about snitch-snotch

Elvis Robertson studied graphics and illustration at St Martins School of Art before embarking on a colourful and circuitous career.

Working as an illustrator and animator she found her way to making art quilts alongside luxury textile items for the home.

Launching in Browns, South Molton St, her work was in such demand that she had a constant waiting list for private commissions.

She now works through homes making entirely bespoke hand-stitched pieces using a variety of skills - embroidering, beading and quilting. This involves working with clients, architects or designers sometimes over a number of years, styling individual rooms around large bespoke and highly intricate hand-crafted pieces. Sometimes this work involves up to three generations of the same family.

Parties and styling are a service that Elvis has grown, providing the use of props, styling dinner tables and room settings for parties and special occasions.

“My philosophy has always been that fabrics are something we have a very early intimate association with, which informs our adult tastes and choices. My work has been concerned with the memories held within those fabrics and items with which we comfort ourselves. I am interested to looking at each individual’s relationship with fabric and those of the family, encouraging a tactile and thought-provoking experience which is playful and joyous.”
